“Urgent Alert: Dolphins’ Offensive Line Desperately Needs Reinforcements because of..
The Dolphins are seriously weak, as evidenced by injuries and poor performance during joint practice.
Whether it’s injuries, lack of depth, or outright draft pick miscalculations, the offensive line has been the Miami Dolphins’ biggest vulnerability under Tua Tagovailoa.
Head coach Mike McDaniel has been making every effort to hide those problems, including bringing in Butch Barry to strengthen the unit and designing an offense that moves the ball rapidly while keeping the defense on its toes. It was effective up until injuries started to pile up.
The Dolphins failed to replace two starting players that were at the professional level from the interior line that finished last season.
Although they added some reliable depth players and signed Aaron Brewer to take over at center, none of them have developed into reliable starters.
There aren’t any problems to solve. With Terron Armstead on the left side and Austin Jackson on the blindside, they are supported by Patrick Paul and Kendall Lamm. The interior offensive line is the issue.
Robert Jones is listed as the left guard, Aaron Brewer as the center, and Liam Eichenberg as the right guard on the most recent depth chart. For supporters of the Dolphins, the absence of Isiah Wynn, who is expected to be the starting left guard, is concerning. Liam Eichenberg hasn’t developed as the Dolphins had planned, while Aaron Brewer, who was just sidelined due to an injury, has been inconsistent outside of his snapping problems.
Patrick Paul is the lone player who has impressed beat reporters who are on the ground enough to notice him. Paul’s only shortcoming is that this year he will only play backup duty.
I had stated on X that he should only move to guard this year if that position is having trouble, but he was burned because he lacks the technique and is too tall for the position. Though this is just one man’s opinion, I would much rather have a tall player who can consistently block passes than have Tagovailoa spend the entire season battling pressure in the middle.
The offense drastically declined in the latter stages of the season after Robert Hunt and Conor Williams were injured last year. Perhaps I’m just getting too worked up too soon. This season, the Dolphins are missing those guys; one of them was injured and had to be replaced.
Although training camp is only in its first week, there is reason for alarm. The Dolphins must investigate possibilities throughout the league. If you leave a help-wanted sign on the door and don’t act quickly enough, the interior offensive line might ruin the season.
In your opinion, what actions should the Dolphins take this season to improve the interior offensive line? I’m listening intently.
