The Nissan Injury Update for Round 22 from Hawthorn is in.

Ned Reeves, the Hawthorn ruckman, is getting closer to making a comeback from a back injury, and Cooper Stephens, the midfielder, has been added to the club’s injured list.

Below is an update from Peter Burge, the High Performance Manager, regarding the pair.

Ned Reeves (returning): one week
“He’s tracking quite nicely. This week, he will resume his football training, and the next week, we want to examine game play. The past week has been excellent; we’ve been able to start him on a jogging and conditioning regimen and get some quality training under his belt. The next phase is to advance to some controlled football skills this week, with the intention of having a complete training week and returning to match action the following week.”

Cooper Stephens: 1-2 weeks following concussion
Cooper had a concussion during the VFL game, leading to his withdrawal from action. He will now go through the 12-day concussion protocol’s medical process, which is tiered and staggered. Depending on the symptoms and how the player recovers, it may take longer, but the early indications point to him making the expected recovery. He will prepare for the next game the next week as there is a VFL bye this weekend.”
