TARTAN NEWS: After Tartan Army charm, Cologne is officially moving to become the Scots twin city…

Following its admiration for the Tartan Army during the Euros campaign, a German city has taken the first step toward officially twining with a Scottish city.
A motion to twin with Glasgow, Edinburgh, or Aberdeen has been made to council in Cologne, the site of Scotland’s second Euro match against Switzerland.
According to the Scottish Sun, Cologne’s deputy leader, Oliver Seeck, expressed the city’s desire to twin with “the whole of Scotland.”
Seeck stated: “The Scots and the people of Cologne have a common love of football, which unites both fan groups in a special way and was impressively demonstrated this summer.”
“And many bands and carnival societies now use bagpipes in Cologne music.”
“We would be more than happy to twin our city with the whole of Scotland,” he continued, citing the three Scottish cities that he had suggested.
Dr. Jurgen Amann, the head of VisitCologne’s tourist department, earlier commended Scottish supporters for having “won the hearts of Cologne.”
He continued: “We will remember the Tartan Army for a long time to come: no Scotland, no party!”
