SYDNEY REPORT: South Sydney Rabbitohs Take on Parramatta Eels in Round 18

In rugby league, six weeks is a long time, and the past six weeks have been extremely exciting for the South Sydney Rabbitohs.

The Rabbitohs have been successful throughout this period thanks to a new halves tandem of Cody Walker and Jack Wighton. Important players Cameron Murray and Latrell Mitchell have also returned to the team, bringing some fire to the attack and grit to the defense. The Rabbitohs have defeated the Eels, Titans, Broncos, and Sea Eagles during their remarkable four-game winning streak.

The Rabbitohs take on the Parramatta Eels this Thursday night, the team that the winning streak started against. The Rabbitohs crushed Parramatta in the Indigenous Round six weeks prior, defeating the Eels 42–26.

The Red and Green were headed by enforcer Keaon Koloamatangi, who has recently made his home at the lock forward position. With two tries, 33 tackles (more than any other Rabbitoh), and 231 metres (the most on the field), he was unstoppable and won the Eric Simms Medal for man-of-the-match.

Despite this, he was by no means a one-man show; Jai Arrow, Dion Teaupa, Sean Keppie, and Damien Cook all scored tries, and Alex Johnston pulled off a memorable try that put him in equal second place with Billy Slater on the all-time try-scorers list (190 tries), a record he has since surpassed.

The previous performance, together with their recent winning streak against the Eels (nine out of eleven starts), will give the Rabbitohs a lot of confidence.
