Sunderland & Birmingham City Are Not Going to Achieve The £4 Million Transfer Goal

According to the most recent sources, Scott Twine, an attacking midfielder, is very close to returning to Bristol City, therefore Birmingham City and Sunderland will probably miss out on signing him this summer.

After a stellar stint with MK Dons, Twine left the latter in the summer of 2022 to join Burnley. It has been alleged that the Englishman’s services cost the Clarets £4 million. He only made 18 appearances in all competitions during the 2022–2023 season when Burnley was promoted back to the Premier League, indicating that he never really adapted into life in Lancashire.

After the team was promoted back to the Premier League, Twine was loaned to Hull City, where he played regularly under Liam Rosenior, until Burnley called him back in January. Still, the board chose to give him another loan, this time to Bristol City.

Burnley, despite relegating to the Championship, appears poised to profit from Twine this summer after just two years. After a fruitful loan at Ashton Gate, it was reported by BristolLive that the 24-year-old is presently using the team’s High-Performance Training Ground to get ready for the upcoming season, with the Robins the front-runners to land him permanently.

However, Twine had been linked to Birmingham City this summer as Chris Davies

Considering Birmingham City can’t afford to part with £3–4 million after being relegated to League One, Burnley may look to recoup most of the money they spent on Twine two years ago, even though their time at Turf Moor was relatively lackluster. This could rule Birmingham City out of any potential deal.

Though it appears like Twine is eager to return to Bristol City after enjoying his time with the Robins in the second half of the previous season, Sunderland undoubtedly has enough to lure him to the Stadium of Light.
