In addition to bringing back a number of important players from the Edmonton Oilers’ journey to the Stanley Cup Final on July 1, interim general manager Jeff Jackson also signed two new elite forwards in Viktor Arvidsson and Jeff Skinner.

The actions put the Oilers temporarily above the $88 million salary cap, but they also caused Oilers supporters to experience a level of happiness about player transactions that I haven’t seen since Edmonton’s McDavid Lottery victory.

That was a more jubilant time, but as of right now, social media is exploding with excitement among Oilers supporters as a number of players have chosen to forego a Stanley Cup dream with the Oilers in exchange for a lower pay and/or shorter contract.
