Report: Nikola Jokic Has Endorsed Idea, Is Not Pressuring Nuggets To Acquire Russell Westbrook..

Nikola Jokic has reportedly given his OK to the Denver Nuggets’ trade of Russell Westbrook to the Los Angeles Clippers, according to NBA reporter Bennett Durando of the Denver Post.

Jokic isn’t pressuring the Nuggets to get Westbrook, though.

Russell Westbrook, who signed a $4 million player option with the Clippers at the end of June, is still a target for that position, according to sources, and Denver is generally viewed as the most likely destination for the future Hall of Famer, Durando wrote. “A league source claims that Nikola Jokic has supported the notion of getting Westbrook, but he hasn’t gone to the front office and put pressure on Denver to make the deal happen.

Like other teams, the Nuggets respect their star player’s viewpoint and consider it when evaluating possible roster changes. in this instance? According to a source, Jokic has hung out with Westbrook at several All-Star Games and has always appreciated his skill set, competitive spirit, and passion, which makes him a desirable teammate.

Westbrook, who exercised his $4 million player option for 2024–25, is negotiating a trade with the Clippers.

The NBA’s all-time leader in triple-doubles, Westbrook shot 45.4% overall, 27.3% from beyond the arc, and 68.8% from the foul line in 2023–24. He also averaged 11.1 points, 5.0 rebounds, 4.5 assists, 1.1 steals, and 0.3 blocks.

In six games, LAC was defeated by the Dallas Mavericks in the 2024 postseason opening round. Paul George signed a four-year contract with the Philadelphia 76ers in free agency after being rejected by his hometown team, the Clippers.

After acquiring James Harden from the Sixers, the Clippers had to persuade Westbrook to come off the bench, and according to NBA reporter Tomer Azarly of ClutchPoints, it wasn’t an easy process.

With career averages of 21.7 points, 7.1 rebounds, 8.1 assists, 1.6 steals, and 0.3 blocks with the Oklahoma City Thunder, Houston Rockets, Los Angeles Lakers, and Clippers, Westbrook is among the best players in NBA history. He was the MVP for 2016–17.
