Rangers secure £800k solution to wing dilemma despite transfer deadlock..

Even though Rangers’ performance against Dynamo Kyiv meant a draw was the least they deserved, they might have left it late.

Although Philippe Clement would love to add new players and earn more money if his team made it to the Champions League, he has to settle for the players he currently has in his squad.

After making his best appearance since joining the Rangers and an outstanding cameo in Poland, Jefte might have helped the manager avoid some financial hardship and resolved an injury-related issue.

The Rangers have an answer for Oscar Cortés’s injury
The youthful Brazilian, acquired from Fluminense for £800,000, has demonstrated that he is content while in possession, playing aggressively and attempting to create opportunities. However, he has shown unsure defensively during the preseason.

Jefte might be the solution in light of Oscar Cortés’ regrettable injury.

Ross McCausland is still putting in a lot of effort but poses no genuine threat, while Scott Wright has blown both of his opportunities to date.

Furthermore, because of his recent bad form, Rabbi Matondo is currently losing pounds off his price with each performance.

Clement’s inability to add any improvements until he releases one or more of them has hampered recruiting efforts throughout the summer.

In Dynamo’s match, Jefte stayed in place as he had since coming, tracking back to cover Ridvan Yilmaz and rotating with the left-back.

The 20-year-old’s driving at his marker, approach to the by-line, and many well-executed crosses were what made him fascinating.

His best qualities seem to be concentrated in the last third.

It doesn’t say much for the other three that Jefte has instantly looked like a better fit on the wing than those who claim it to be their natural position.

Clement has to adapt and change his plans for Jefte

When Rangers signed Jefte, it was clear where Philippe Clement saw him contributing:

“Jefté is an exciting young defender, and I am delighted that he has joined our squad so early in the summer period. He has already shown he is a player of great quality and potential and I am confident he can play a big part in our squad moving forward – I look forward to working with him in the months to come.”

What is more likely – when Cortés is fit – is that Jefte gets more game time at the back with Rangers dominating possession.

In the short-term, Jefte offers a pace and quality that has made an impact in the front three already an could become an Ibrox favourite.

As Dujon Sterling proved last season, if you get the chance to impress, it shouldn’t matter what position it is in, you just have to take it.

Jefte did – with both hands.
