Quincy Wilson, the teen track sensation, smashes his own 400-meter world record once more!

And he is only sixteen.

The 16-year-old track and field sensation Quincy Wilson has once again shattered his own U18 world record in the 400-meter dash, adding another impressive accomplishment to his already impressive resume and securing his spot on the 4×400 relay team in Paris. At the Holloway Pro Classic on July 19, Wilson blasted to a 44.20, shattering the mark he had established twice at the U.S. Olympic Trials.

The Athletic claims that Bryce Deadmon, the 2023 national champion, pushed Wilson’s time, finishing in second place with a time of 44.23. Regarding Wilson’s prospects of making the 4×400 squad, the top three finishers from the Olympic Trials—Quincy Hall, Michael Norman, and Chris Bailey—are automatically entered in the pool, and the fourth-place finisher from the trials, Vernon Norwood, is traditionally awarded an additional slot. Wilson’s times and performances have put him squarely in the running for one of the two remaining berths, which are decided by the coaches.

The announcement of the relay squad is anticipated for later in July, and Wilson’s prospects will only get stronger the more he gives it on the track. He is now the youngest male track athlete to be selected for the American Olympic squad, and the Bullis School pupil is signed to a non-injury contract with New Balance. Wilson’s coach, Joe Lee, told The Athletic in June how the young player has handled the strain of playing at this level with a maturity that defies his years.
