“Must-See Preview: Opposition Watch for Round 22 Clash Against Collingwood!”

In preparation for our encounter with Collingwood at the SCG this evening, we examine our opponents in Round 22.
Collingwood will try to maintain their hopes of making the finals by traveling to Sydney on Friday night for a highly anticipated Round 22 match.
Following their thrilling three-point victory against longtime rivals Carlton, the Pies are currently one game off of the top eight on the ladder, in 11th place. The Black and White army will invade a crowded SCG in an attempt to upset the ladder-leading Swans, who have recently experienced a run of bad form.
400-gamer Scott Pendlebury grabbed 27 disposals against Carlton, while Nick Daicos added 28 touches to his already impressive season. Jordan De Goey, Mason Cox, and Will Hoskin-Elliott all scored two goals for the Magpies; however, the latter will be absent for the Swans match due to a hamstring injury sustained in the same game that ended his season.
The Swans’ severe form downturn was exemplified by their 112-point defeat at the hands of Port Adelaide in Round 21. Errol Gulden, who recorded 25 disposals in an otherwise subpar game, was one of the Swans’ rare bright spots. As one of three lineup changes, the host team welcomes back veteran defender Dane Rampe from a soft tissue injury. Braeden Campbell and Caiden Cleary have been brought back into the starting lineup, and forward Joel Amartey has returned after being managed against Port. Aaron Francis, Peter Ladhams, Sam Wicks, and Corey Warner are all replaced by the four Swans.
This season, Sydney has already defeated Collingwood once, in Round 1 at the MCG. That time, the Swans applied pressure and defeated the Magpies by a score of 33 points, with Errol Gulden, Chad Warner, and Isaac Heeney in the lead roles. In a losing team, Nick Daicos was a bright spot for the home team, accumulating 37 disposals and scoring a goal.
Collingwood coach Craig McRae stated prior to the match on Friday night that his team cannot take anyone lightly, particularly in light of the Swans’ recent poor play.
According to McRae, “every team seems to have gone through this competition, isn’t it?”
“We suffered four straight losses, while Geelong suffered six or seven, and you can see how close the competition is now that Sydney is going through that.”
“We go up there with a purpose, but we respect those guys as well. This is going to be a huge game with a lot on the line, so tune in Friday night.”
Round 22 falls on the same day as our Hall of Fame Game, which gives us a chance to honor our most recent Hall of Famers on the main platform. Prior to the first bounce at 7:40 p.m., the inductees will finish a lap of honor at 7:10 p.m.
