Leeds United brought in four signings in the last week of the transfer window

Sitting down to give his reaction to Leeds United’s 2-0 victory over Hull City, Daniel Farke will not have been surprised to find the majority of questions about events 24 hours earlier rather than what had just transpired at Elland Road. The transfer window may have closed but Leeds’ two deadline day signings and any that potentially slipped away were the only show in town to some extent.

The focus on the bigger picture and not the present, transfer talked continued. And with that theme Farke was keen to point out that now the window was closed, his new squad (who shouldn’t be classed as favourites for promotion) needed time to come together on the training ground.

Given the turmoil and turnaround of players this summer, sitting fourth in the Championship table with an unbeaten record after four games doesn’t suggest a huge deal of work is needed on the coming together as a new team front, but Farke knows the challenges that lie ahead will need his relatively small squad to be ready for all eventualities.

Time will come for Farke to work with his new arrivals and for Leeds to find a new look and a new starting XI, but that time won’t be coming straight away. Any hope Farke had of acclimatising his new players into the squad has been put on hold and hindered, not helped by an international break.
