The Las Vegas Aces notched their third straight win after annihilating the spiraling Chicago Sky, 90-71, on Sept. 3 at T-Mobile Arena. A’ja Wilson had another monster performance with 30 points and 14 rebounds to carry the Aces. Chelsea Gray also had a double-double with 13 points and 10 assists.

The Aces cruised to the easy victory despite missing Kelsey Plum, who was out due to an ankle injury. It was her first absence of the season. Tiffany Hayes amply filled in for the three-time All-Star, pouring in 20 points on 8-of-12 shooting and added three rebounds and four assists. After the game, Aces coach Becky Hammon said Plum is “just taking some precautions,” as reported by Las Vegas Sun’s Jack Williams.

The 30-year-old Plum has been instrumental in the Aces’ title defense bid, averaging 17.6 points, 2.3 rebounds and 4.4 assists per game. With the games expected to tighten up heading to the playoffs, the team will need her to be 100% healthy. While the Aces have enough depth at the guard position with Gray, Hayes and Jackie Young, Plum’s steady play and seasoned poise are always welcome. With the victory versus the Sky, the Aces improved to 21-12, holding a one-game lead over the Seattle Storm for fourth place. The Sky, on the other hand, suffered their seventh straight loss.

The Aces will aim for their fourth straight win against the Connecticut Sun on Sept. 6.
