After Friday, some will consider the Philadelphia 76ers’ inability to sign Paul George in free agency to be a big setback. Joel Embiid attended Game 4 of the NBA Finals at American Airlines Center, which featured the visiting Boston Celtics and Dallas Mavericks. Before the Mavs’ 122-84 triumph, the Sixers franchise player made an appearance on ESPN’s NBA Countdown program, which George hosted as a guest. Furthermore, both athletes expressed their sincere desire to compete in the Finals.

It’s no secret that if George declines his $48.8 million player option with the Los Angeles Clippers for the upcoming season, the Sixers will make a move once free agency opens on June 30. Embiid was asked about his feelings about seeing his bitter rival Celtics on the verge of winning the title when he was seated close to George during the broadcast. Embiid declared, “I can’t stand them,” in reference to the Celtics, who are leading the best-of-seven series 3-1. “I detest Boston. You know, wonderful city. Great fans. They obviously have some excellent players. However, it really hurts me.

“So, hopefully, this offseason we find a way to get better and add some pieces,” Embiid said, grinning as he glanced at George. “So, yeah.” The public remarks made by Embiid attest to the Sixers’ seriousness in bringing in George, a nine-time All-Star swingman. Even though they were eliminated in the first round, Tyrese Maxey and a healthy Embiid lead the team in their belief that they could be the second-best team in the Eastern Conference. However, the Sixers believe that having Embiid, Maxey, and George as an All-Star three will allow them to contend with the Celtics for conference and league supremacy. George would provide the Sixers with one of the best wings in the NBA to take Tobias Harris’ spot.
Embiid looked at George and smiled, “So hopefully this offseason we find a way to get better and add some pieces.” “So, yeah.” Embiid’s public statements confirm that the Sixers are serious about acquiring George, a nine-time All-Star swingman. Tyrese Maxey and a healthy Embiid led the squad in believing they might be the second-best team in the Eastern Conference, despite the fact they were ousted in the first round. But the Sixers think that having an All-Star trio in Embiid, Maxey, and George will help them challenge the Celtics for conference and league supremacy. George would replace Tobias Harris for the Sixers, giving them one of the top wings in the NBA.
