According to a contract obtained by The Oregonian/OregonLive, Oregon State will pay $750,000 to host the Demon Deacons during the 2025 season. In addition, the home team pays the visiting team $100,000 for the 2025 and 2029 games; Wake Forest plays Oregon State in Winston Salem, North Carolina in 2029. This is a big price for a home-and-home football series.

In a nutshell, Oregon State is picking up Wake Forest’s $750,000 buyout when it got out of a contract to play at Mississippi in 2025. The Demon Deacons and Rebels had a home-and-home agreement to play in 2024 and 2025. Earlier in September, Wake Forest triggered the buyout provision in the contract for the 2025 game at Oxford, Mississippi.

Oregon State was willing to pay $750,000 for next year’s game as it tries to build a 2025 schedule that still has five openings. OSU and Washington State paid more than $1 million per game to complete its 2024 schedule through a 12-game agreement with the Mountain West Conference.

The OSU-Wake Forest contract also spells out date possibilities for each game. The 2025 game will be played Oct. 25, unless “Wake Forest is not assigned a bye week or away game by the ACC during the weekend of Oct. 11, 2025, in which case the game will be held on Oct. 11, 2025.”

The 2029 game at Wake Forest could be played in 2027 if Wake Forest has a nonconference opening on its schedule. The contract stipulates if there is a 2027 opening, “Wake Forest and OSU will make reasonable efforts to move this return game to that opening.”
