A member of Birmingham City’s first squad is expected to move abroad.

Juninho Bacuna, a winger for Birmingham City, is scheduled to leave St. Andrew’s this weekend for Sivasspor, a top-flight Turkish team. He is the most recent departure after the team was demoted from the Championship in May.

In the blue quarters of the Second City, preparations are on for a momentous summer of change. Birmingham’s ambitious Stateside ownership is keen to lead the team out of English football’s third division at the earliest opportunity.

This potential revolution – which many supporters feel was overdue, even at the expense of their second-tier status – has already seen 12 players from last season’s relegation campaign move out of the exit door, while former Tottenham Hotspur assistant Chris Davies has been appointed as Head Coach after Tony Mowbray stepped down from his role owing to an ongoing health condition.

Bacuna, meanwhile, always seemed to be heading out, and if all goes according to plan, he’ll be added to the list of Blues players who’ve left in the next few days.

Juninho Bacuna of Birmingham City is expected to join Sivasspor.
BirminghamLive reports that the Blues have accepted an undisclosed offer from Sivasspor in advance of a potential move, and Bacuna has been officially granted permission to begin negotiations with the Turkish team.

Bacuna, who signed from Rangers two and a half years ago, is expected to be cut from Birmingham’s preseason squad for their trip to Austria. This will likely be his final appearance in his career of 111 games.

It’s interesting to note that Bacuna is the second Blues player to leave for Sivasspor this summer after Alex Pritchard, who ended his brief but unsuccessful stay with Birmingham, recently joined the team.

According to TuttoMercatoWeb, Sassuolo of Italy and Gaziantep of Turkey were also mentioned as potential suitors for the Curacao international. However, Sivasspor is expected to emerge victorious in this matchup.

Birmingham City are right to sanction Juninho Bacuna sale

Bacuna is an extremely gifted and positionally-flexible player who can carry out a variety of roles with success, and you could’ve been pretty certain of his impact upon League One defences next term.

While his inconsistency was a routine source of frustration among disgruntled supporters, the fact of the matter is that Bacuna’s return of 13 goal contributions kept Birmingham’s survival hopes intact until the season-defining final day and was only usurped by popular Fulham loanee Jay Stansfield at the club last term.

Bacuna’s talent is commendable- less so is his attitude and temperament, both of which came to the fore for all the wrong reasons when it wasn’t going well at Birmingham, and Huddersfield Town’s faithful voiced similar concerns during his time in West Yorkshire.
