Claims that Joseph Suaalii has decided to rejoin the Roosters following his high-profile transfer to rugby union in 2025 have been denied. The 20-year-old’s announcement coincides with his upcoming State of Origin debut for the Blues on Wednesday night. The St George Illawarra Dragons are the most recent NRL team to be connected to the promising player.

Suaalii’s Origin selection for the Blues was said to have the potential to persuade him to forego an alluring offer from Rugby Australia in 2025 and remain in the NRL. Suaalii reportedly paid more than $5 million for a hefty three-year contract that will allow him to play rugby against the opposing code starting in the upcoming season. In 2025, he will be the highest-paid athlete in Australia across all football codes thanks to this.

Suaalii has dismissed rumors that he might change his mind about playing in the 15-a-side match, but James Hooper of Fox League claims that Suaalii might not be able to make the decision. Hooper disclosed on Triple M that wealthy rugby players might not be able to pay for Suaalii, and that the wealthy Dragons might take advantage by giving him a way to stay in the NRL.
