Grant Williams is destroyed by Austin Rivers for having a party in the Celtics locker room.

In Game 5 of the NBA Finals from Boston on Monday night, Jayson Tatum and the Boston Celtics eventually broke through and won their first title of the modern period, defeating Luka Doncic and the Dallas Mavericks. Despite playing his greatest Finals game to date on Monday, when he scored 31 points and dished out 11 assists, Jaylen Brown of the Celtics, who was more reliable and effective throughout the series, was just barely able to take home the MVP award.

One strange incident happened after the game when the Celtics were dousing the locker room with champagne. Grant Williams, a former forward for the Celtics who ironically played for the Mavericks for a portion of this season as well as the Celtics last year, was spotted having a wild time in the locker room with a few of his old teammates. It was an awkward scene.

Former NBA guard Austin Rivers wasn’t a fan of this choice either. He recently discussed it on his podcast, Off Guard with Austin Rivers, which oddly featured guest and current Williams colleague Seth Curry of the Charlotte Hornets.

According to Rivers, via Off Guard with Austin Rivers, “Grant Williams got traded from that place, and you got traded by the other team that was in the other locker room, you shouldn’t be there no offense right.” “You were dealt in a way that made it seem like, hey, Dallas improved and they were much better when you went. I don’t mean to disparage Grant, but it seems like you have no business being in that locker room.

“I’ve experienced that; after Denver won the following year, I moved away, and I assumed it would happen again with Minnesota this year. Are you out of your f—-ing mind? I didn’t travel to the finals to see Denver win and go party with them in the locker room, Rivers thought to himself. “I was thrilled for them; I contacted them all. I was also thrilled for Coach Malone, Mike, and Aaron. You did not resign me, so I’m not going to go out and party with you. I was not successful. It’s weird as f—k that Grant is in that locker room, but I totally expected it.

As was already established, Williams spent the last few seasons playing for both the Mavericks and the Celtics but was unable to commit to either team long-term. In the end, Williams became more well-known for his antics that left a bad taste in the mouths of fans. He was known for forcing Jimmy Butler into a massive performance and for telling Donovan Mitchell he would make two free throws in the clutch before missing both. Williams did have the game of his life in the 2022 Eastern Conference semifinals Game 7 vs the Milwaukee Bucks to save the Celtics’ season.
