Derrick Henry’s alleged trade bid at the 2023 NFL Trade Deadline is denied by the Titans general manager.

According to a story from last week, the Baltimore Ravens and the Tennessee Titans were supposedly in agreement to deal RB Derrick Henry to each other around the 2023 NFL trading deadline. On July 23, nevertheless, Titans general manager Ran Carthon refuted the report.

There were reports around the NFL trade deadline in 2023 that the Baltimore Ravens were in advanced negotiations to sign running back Derrick Henry of the Tennessee Titans. But Henry was still a Titan after the deadline had gone. More social media speculations claimed that Henry had a deal “in place,” but the move was denied by Titans owner Amy Adams Strunk.

Dan Pompei of The Athletic wrote a piece last week stating that the deal had been agreed to.

“DeCosta consented to the terms of a deal with Tennessee general manager Ran Carthon, which included a fourth-round selection that could have been upgraded to a third should Henry meet specific performance targets,” Pompei wrote. Henry, however, spent the rest of the season in Nashville because it appears that some members of the Titans hierarchy were not in favor of the agreement.

When questioned on July 23 about the alleged transaction for Derrick Henry, Carthon refuted the information.

“I am not sure where that originated. I do not care about that,” Carthon remarked. However, other teams contacted me on Derrick and made offers that were not even worth considering, let alone worth accepting. I told Derrick as much during that period. But, we never made a deal with anyone to take any action that would make someone move.

Henry signed a contract with the Ravens on March 12, regardless of what happened in 2023. The NFL World views this signing as possibly the best offseason addition this year.
