“Deeply concerned”: Bulldogs reach out to rival fan, slam supporters’ behaviour

An ugly incident took place outside of Belmore Sports Ground on Sunday evening.

A small percentage of Canterbury Bulldogs fans have come under fire for their actions toward a Canberra Raiders fan on Sunday night.

After Canterbury narrowly defeated the Raiders, supporters of their team flocked to Belmore, turning the neighborhood into a party hub.

Sadly, the evening took a bad turn when footage surfaced showing a Raiders fan being pushed to the ground by Bulldogs supporters who had encircled him.

The Bulldogs declared they are “deeply concerned” about the event and that they are looking into it in a statement that was made public on Monday afternoon.

“The Bulldogs are deeply concerned about an incident involving fan behaviour toward a supporter of the opposing team that occurred yesterday following our Round 22 home match against the Canberra Raiders at Belmore Sports Ground,” the Bulldogs wrote.

“Though the incident took place post-match and outside of the stadium premises, we are profoundly disheartened by the display of intimidation and inappropriate conduct towards another fan of the game. While the vast majority of our patrons upheld the values of sportsmanship, this behaviour falls far short of what we stand for as a Club. Such actions are unacceptable, and we are actively investigating the situation, including reviewing available footage.”
