**Celtic Pursues Polish Star, Rangers Face Hagi Departure Challenge, Hibs Consider New Bid – Scottish Transfer News**

In the latest Scottish transfer news, Celtic have made a move for Mateusz Bogusz, a 23-year-old attacking midfielder currently with Los Angeles FC. The Polish player’s potential transfer was initially paused due to LAFC’s participation in the MLS Leagues Cup final, but now that the team has been defeated by Columbus Crew, discussions have resumed. Celtic has officially submitted an offer for Bogusz, a former Leeds United talent, as reported by Sky Sports. Additionally, the Scottish club is looking to finalize a deal for Arne Engels from Augsburg. While personal terms with the 20-year-old Belgian Under-21 international have been agreed upon, Celtic must enhance their offer after Augsburg turned down their initial £6.5 million bid.

Rangers, on the other hand, are grappling with a setback regarding Ianis Hagi. The Romanian midfielder, who has been relegated to the B team under manager Philippe Clement’s new plans, has declined an offer to leave the club. Reports indicate that Hagi is poised for a significant salary increase if he makes another appearance for Rangers. The club had hoped that moving Hagi would help free up funds for new signings before the transfer window closes, but he has chosen to stay in Glasgow instead of moving to Rapid Bucharest. Rangers are also keen on offloading Todd Cantwell, who has requested a transfer, and there could be further departures, with Alex Lowry and Scott Wright also potentially leaving.

In other news, Hibernian is still in contention for signing Dundee’s Luke McCowan. Despite having two previous bids turned down, Hibs are considering a third offer estimated at £750,000. McCowan, the 26-year-old captain of Dundee, is attracting interest from several clubs, including Celtic and Bolton Wanderers, as his contract nears its end.

In a significant move, Matt O’Riley has transferred from Celtic to Brighton on a five-year contract for a reported £25 million, pending international clearance. O’Riley, a Danish midfielder, has made over 100 appearances for Celtic, contributing 27 goals and helping the team secure three Scottish Premiership titles. Brighton’s head coach, Fabian Hurzeler, praised O’Riley for his ability to both defend and attack effectively, highlighting his balance and ambition as key attributes.

Finally, Hearts manager Steven Naismith anticipates a quiet end to the transfer window despite the team’s rocky start to the season. Although Hearts have signed several new players over the summer, they are yet to secure a win in their first five matches, including a recent 3-1 defeat to Motherwell. Naismith expressed confidence in the squad’s strength and suggested that while they will continue to explore options, he does not expect many changes before the deadline. He believes the new recruits are still adjusting to the team’s demands and expects improvements in performance.
