Back on the trading block: Former top prospect for the Diamondbacks…

A little more than five years have passed since the Miami Marlins acquired Jazz Chisholm Jr., the #1 overall prospect of the Arizona Diamondbacks. In exchange, the Diamondbacks received Zac Gallen, who is now well-known throughout Arizona.

Chisholm had not yet made his Major League debut at the time of the trade. He still had one or two more years of development ahead of him as the 2018 Minor League Player of the Year for the Diamondbacks. In contrast, Arizona was drawn to Zac Gallen because he had already established himself with the Marlins and was a desirable arm.

Prior to the first time Chisholm was set to face Gallen since the trade, he told reporters that he was ready to hit a home run off him. Instead, he went 0-3 against Gallen. Postgame, Gallen spoke about the at-bats: “I gave him 97, and said, here see what you can do about it… not much.” For a moment, it seemed as if a rivalry was brewing between the two. But, throughout his career, Chisholm has gone 0-12 with five strikeouts against Gallen.
