‘A bit strange’ – Johnnie Jackson makes Charlton admission after AFC Wimbledon win pre-season clash

Johnnie Jackson admitted it was strange managing a side up against Charlton – but had full focus on making sure his AFC Wimbledon team took advantage of the pre-season workout.

The 41-year-old is entering his third season in charge of the Dons and looking to take the Plough Lane-based side back to League One.

But Jackson made a huge impact as a player with the Addicks, featuring 279 times, scoring 55 times and captaining the 2011-12 promotion side.

He also started his coaching career with the Addicks and was assistant manager to Lee Bowyer during the play-off winning 2019-20 season.

Jackson started his managerial career with Charlton and took charge 40 times before leaving at the end of the 2021-22 season.

His Wimbledon side beat Charlton 2-0 at Plough Lane on Saturday afternoon – Ryan Johnson and Josh Kelly both scoring.
