LATEST REACTION: Reacting to Dan Hurley staying at UConn and turning down a job with the Los Angeles Lakers, Caitlin Clark

The former Iowa standout and rookie for the Indiana Fever discussed a significant development in college coaching.

This week, a lot of people reacted to Connecticut basketball coach Dan Hurley’s decision to decline the Los Angeles Lakers’ offer of a long-term contract. One insightful response came from Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark. This spring, after competing in back-to-back national championship games at Iowa, college basketball’s all-time greatest scorer left her sport in capable hands. She watched from a distance as Hurley completed his second consecutive run to a national title with the Huskies.

“Shit, man. Two excellent alternatives,” Clark remarked, as reported by the Indianapolis Star. “He could have chosen. I truly admire him, though obviously I have no idea what the chats were about. I adore how intense he is. I find his style of game coaching to be great. He definitely gets the best performance out of his guys and has an incredible coaching style. He holds them accountable.”

Hurley will not be able to become an NBA coach, but Clark believes that a potential college career would eventually be more successful.

“I’ve really loved watching him over the course of the last couple of years, and I think it’s cool that he’s staying in college basketball,” Clark stated. “I believe he truly enjoys it and finds great joy in being among those young men. He obviously makes them fantastic, which is why I’ve always been a huge supporter of both him and his program. Seeing them has been enjoyable.
