West Coast Eagles veteran Andrew Gaff has confirmed that 2024 will be his final season in the AFL.

The 32-year-old will hang up the boots after the Eagles’ final home game of the season in round 23 against Carlton at Optus Stadium.

Gaff, who missed out on the Eagles’ 2018 premiership after being suspended for eight weeks after striking Fremantle’s Andrew Brayshaw during a derby match, was drafted with the fourth pick in the 2010 draft.

The 2015 and 2018 All-Australian has been managing an ankle injury since last season, which has restricted his game time.

“It will be sad to see one of our great players end his career, but Andrew leaves a lasting legacy,” Bell said on Wednesday.

“He is highly respected across the football club, not just within the playing group and the football department.

Bell also confirmed the club would celebrate Gaff’s 12 years at the Eagles over the next two weeks.

“Andrew has been an amazing contributor to our club for a decade and a half and we will take the opportunity to appropriately acknowledge him in the next two weeks,” Bell said.

Gaff becomes the third AFL player to hang up the boots in two days, following legendary Geelong forward Tom Hawkins and star Richmond midfielder Dustin Martin announcing their retirements on Tuesday.

He will finish on 280 games, after playing in round 22 and round 23.

Gaff will not travel down to Geelong to face the Cats in round 24.
