Speaking on SportFM on Thursday morning Peel Thunder senior coach Adam Read said his transition into the coaching role that saw Peel finish second on the WAFL ladder in his first season was credit to the alignment between Peel and Fremantle.
“I think a lot of credit as well has to go to Geoff Valentine who did the job before me (senior coach of Peel last season) and the two Clubs obviously in Freo and Peel and the connection that we’ve built in the alignment,” Read said.
“It made the transition for myself coming in really, really smooth and then obviously the staff and players who have supported me along the way.”
Speaking on the Thunder’s upcoming finals campaign, Read said the availability of the playing group made for a strong team ahead of their first clash on Saturday.
“It’s every coaches dream but nightmare at the same time when you’ve got great availability,” Read said.
“It does make selection really tough, but it’s that double edged sword where it’s a really good thing because you are going to have a pretty strong side out on the field.
“We’ve got match committee today so we will sit down and figure but where the team sits, but it’s definitely a good problem to have.
