The Oregon State Beavers start the 2024 season on Saturday at home against Idaho State. The Oregonian/OregonLive will count down the days with mini-profiles of prominent former and current Beavers whose jersey numbers correspond with the days remaining until the opening kickoff.

Bio: Oregon State recruited Rodgers out of Lamar High School (Texas), where he gained 8,246 rushing yards and scored 135 touchdowns.

His older brother, wide receiver James Rodgers, also played at Oregon State.

Key statistics: Jacquizz Rodgers followed his brother to OSU where both became stars under coach Mike Riley.

But Jacquizz Rodgers, named first-team All-Pac-10 in three consecutive seasons, shined a little brighter.

As a freshman in 2008, he rushed for 1,253 yards (11th all-time at OSU) and 11 touchdowns to earn Pac-10 Offensive Player of the Year and Freshman of the Year.

He had the best season of his career in 2009 when he rushed for 1,440 yards (fifth) and a program-record 21 touchdowns while producing 522 yards on 78 receptions.
