La Liga side Celta Vigo have announced this week a new addition to the club’s defensive ranks.

Of course, defender Alonso’s name has been prominent in the Spanish media for much of the summer so far.

This comes after the former Chelsea player entered the free agency pool, following the expiration of the terms of his contract with Barcelona.

In turn, a host of clubs are understood to have expressed interest in Alonso’s services.

And, as mentioned above, with just a few days left in the transfer window, one of those teams announced the signing of the 33-year-old left back.

According to a post on their social media platforms late on Wednesday, Celta Vigo have signed Alonso for next season.

More details of the agreement reached between the parties are expected to be revealed in the coming days.
