Josh, a former LSU player and pistol Pete Maravich’s son, passed away at age 42.

At the age of 42, Josh Maravich, the son of Pete Maravich, the Basketball Hall of Famer, passed away.

Former LSU basketball player Josh Maravich passed away on Friday at his Covington, Louisiana, home, according to a statement from the university.

The cause of Josh Maravich’s death was not disclosed by LSU. From 2001 to 2005, he performed in Baton Rouge for four seasons.

In a 2005 story, he said, “I wanted to come here for my dad to make him proud.” “Being a walk-on was always my goal, even though I knew I wouldn’t be a star player.”

Prior to Iowa’s Caitlin Clark surpassing him, Pete Maravich held the record for most points scored in the history of the NCAA.

He passed away in 1988 at the age of 40 from an unexplained cardiac ailment.

Josh participated in the 2022 unveiling of the bronze statue of “Pistol Pete” Maravich by LSU. The concept of using the behind-the-back pass to represent their father’s monument was conceived by Josh and his brother, Jaeson.
