SC Cambuur, an Eerste Divisie team, has formally announced the signing of their ninth summer player as they aim to resurrect their success in the league. This time, they have improved their midfield by adding Maikel Kieftenbeld, a former Millwall and Birmingham City player. The 34-year-old, who brings years of experience to the second-tier side, has inked a one-year contract with the club. a signed statement from Cambuur.

Kieftenbeld began his playing career with the Go Ahead Eagles, where he played for the first time as a senior in 2008–09. The Dutchman was signed by FC Groningen in 2010, and he played for the team for five seasons before moving to Birmingham City. Before joining Millwall, Maikel Kieftenbeld had an amazing run in the West Midlands, making 183 appearances over the course of six seasons.

He spent the previous two years at FC Emmen, but following a couple of largely disappointing seasons, he moved to Cambuur. Technical director Lars Lambooij described Maikel as a player with “huge winner mentality” and demonstrated abilities. Furthermore, he possesses an abundance of experience that he has acquired on a national and worldwide scale. He may now be significant both inside and outside the lines thanks to this. We are glad that Maikel Kieftenbeld will be representing SC Cambuur in yellow and blue for the upcoming season.
