It has been claimed that Newcastle United is considering bringing back AC Milan defender Fikayo Tomori to the Premier League for the summer.

The Magpies are eager to bolster their defense after being caught short several times the previous campaign. Eddie Howe will be without two defenders for the start of the 2017 season as Sven Botman and Jamaal Lascelles heal from ACL surgery and won’t be available until the very end of the season.

After leaving Bournemouth, Lloyd Kelly just joined on a free transfer. Newcastle appeared to be closing in on Tosin Adarabioyo as he left Fulham, but he decided to join Chelsea at the last minute.

Howe was left to find someone else as a result.

It was reported over the weekend that Newcastle had gotten in touch with AC Milan over the possibility of bringing defender Fikayo Tomori back to the Premier League, three years after he left Chelsea, for a fee of £25 million.

Newcastle supporters were ecstatic to hear the news because Tomori is the exact player we need. He was also in action for us the previous season when he played in the Champions League against the Magpies.

According to’sources’ with Football Insider, the 26-year-old has informed the club that he intends to stay and does not consider Newcastle to be a step up from AC Milan.

Again, we should take the source with a grain of salt, but considering that Milan consistently makes it to the Champions League and we wouldn’t be able to provide any European football next season, you could see how this one could have some merit.

Nevertheless, it’s all about looking ahead; if we could persuade Tomori of the Newcastle project, who knows what would transpire?
