Ajax defender to be signed by VfL Bochum…

Dennis Bayer reports that VfL Bochum will sign Ajax defender Jakov Medić.

According to earlier reports, Borussia Mönchengladbach and Union Berlin are leading the competition to entice Brazilian left-back Bernardo away from Bochum this summer. A number of Bundelsiga clubs are reportedly vying for his services.

Since then, though, it has become evident that Berlin is the former Brighton & Hove Albion defender’s most likely summertime destination.

Therefore, Bochum has been looking for a replacement because it’s possible that Bernardo would go in the next few days.

The 25-year-old Medić of Ajax has expressed interest in returning to Germany and heading to the Vonovia Ruhrstadion, making him the most likely candidate to succeed Bernardo.

All parties are in talks, and Bochum wants to extend an offer to the defender for four years, until 2028.
