Lewis Neilson, a prospect for Hearts, acknowledged that leaving Tynecastle this summer was not an easy choice, but he believes that going on loan to St Johnstone will provide him with the ideal setting to realize his full potential and get regular first team experience in the premier league.

Neilson came to Hearts in 2022 from Dundee United, however he has only made ten Premiership appearances in the capital to yet. After making 36 appearances for Patrick Thistle in the Championship the previous season, the 21-year-old feels he is now ready to establish himself at the highest level of Scottish football.

“I wanted to step up and play in the Premiership again,” the defender clarified. This was a great chance for me because I didn’t want to return to the Championship.
