After leaving Easter Road, Paul Hanlon has joined Raith Rovers, where he will reunite with fellow Hibs star Lewis Stevenson.

The 34-year-old has committed to a three-year contract with the Championship team, which is led by Ian Murray, a former Hibs player. When Stevenson’s transfer to Kirkcaldy was officially announced at the end of May, there were many rumors that his longtime teammate and close buddy would be joining him in the second tier.

It has already been confirmed by Raith that Hanlon will continue to work in Stark’s Park through at least 2027. Murray’s team lost to Ross County over two legs in the Premiership play-offs last season, despite defeating Partick Thistle in the semifinals. Hanlon claims he is excited to support the team as it currently stands on a strong footing.

The center back expressed his happiness to sign a contract with The Rovers till 2027 on the team’s website. “I am eager to get to know the boys, begin training, and continue the fantastic work from last season.”

Murray anticipates that Hanlon will provide his side with “leadership, calmness, and aggression” throughout the upcoming campaign, among many other attributes.

He declared, “Paul is a great addition to our team and it took a lot of work to get him.” “It is difficult to find left-footed center halves, but Paul has competed at the highest level in Scotland for a lot of years and is a big asset to our defense as well as a leader who is composed and aggressive.

“He strengthens the team and reads the game quite well. We are excited to collaborate with him and welcome any contributions he may have to make.

Hanlon began playing with the Hibs in 2008 and has already made over 550 appearances. He was a key member of the team that won the Scottish Cup in 2016, and he was chosen club captain again in 2021. A lifelong supporter of Hibs, he participated in his final match wearing green and white on the last day of the previous campaign in a 1-1 draw with Livingston. The club declined to extend an offer to him.
