Former Oregon State Beavers star Travis Bazzana signs deal with the Cleveland Guardians
Travis Bazzana’s professional baseball career will begin after he signed a contract with the Cleveland Guardians, the team announced Friday.
The Guardians did not reveal the financial terms of the deal. However, MLB.com’s Jim Callis reported that Bazzana, the No. 1 pick in the 2024 Major League Baseball draft, signed for $8.95 million. That amount was below the slot value of $10.57 million for the No. 1 overall pick.
“I wanted to be in a place where I could flourish and, with the identity of the way the Guardians play the game, this is where I wanted to be,” Bazzana told reporters. “I put my trust in my great agents, but they knew I wanted to be a Guard.”
