Sam Lammers is getting closer to joining Twente Enschede for £2.7 million; this transfer could free up funds for Rangers to make a bid for Lawrence Shankland.

Record Sport revealed on Tuesday that the Hearts skipper is back on the wanted list at Ibrox after a shift in position from Philippe Clement. But the Belgian boss will still need to find around £3m to stand any chance of tempting the Edinburgh club into cashing-in on the talismanic striker. That windfall could be about to drop into Clement’s lap with Dutch frontman Lammers on the verge of returning to his homeland.The 27-year-old has been told he has no part to play in Clement’s summer rebuild but still has three more years to run on a bumper contract following his arrival from Italian side Atalanta last summer. While Utrecht and NAC Breda have matched the asking price, those moves fell through when it came to matching the player’s wage demands.lure Lammers back to the Netherlands after setting aside a package of around £1.3m a year to sign Wout Weghorst from Burnley. But it’s understood the Euro 2024 star pulled the plug on discussions in the last week – with Twente’s attention turning to Gers’ Lammers instead.
