The most recent Birmingham City move as the Blues finalize Marc Leonard’s acquisition as a midfielder from Brighton

Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder Marc Leonard has officially joined Birmingham City. After spending the last two seasons on loan at Northampton Town, Leonard joins the Blues as their eighth addition of a busy summer that is poised to get even busier.

Twenty-two-year-old Leonard, a ball-playing midfielder, has played for Brighton for the past six years, but he has only made two appearances in the EFL Cup (2021). As previously stated, the Scottish player was loaned to League Two Northampton in 2022, where he assisted the team in earning promotion to the third division. The following season, he returned and made sure the Cobblers stayed in League One.

Leonard made 97 appearances during that time, scored six goals while wearing a Northampton shirt, and was named the team’s player of the year the previous season. He will now contribute those attributes and his recent League One football experience to Chris Davies’ team in front of the upcoming campaign.

“Based on where I am in my career and where Birmingham are trying to get to, I just felt like the ambition of this club really matched my own,” he explained on BluesTV. “I felt like the time was right [to leave Brighton], and I knew that Blues was the club that I wanted to play for so I really pushed for the deal to go through.”
