BREAKING NEWS: Birmingham City Fails to Meet £3 Million Goal…..

With a fresh report on the player’s condition, Birmingham City looks to have lost out on a summer transfer target to Sheffield Wednesday of the Championship.
In order to strengthen their roster in advance of their League One comeback, the Blues have been active throughout this transfer window, acquiring seven new players thus far.
Alfie May, the top scorer in League One, left Charlton Athletic for this highly publicized move, even though a deal with fellow demoted team Huddersfield Town appeared to be near. High-profile additions from Europe have included attacking midfielder Willum Willumsson from Go Ahead Eagles and Emil Hansson, who has a goal contribution record that few can match.
The Peterborough Telegraph reports that although Chris Davies’ team has improved all around, they may potentially lose out on one of their key transfer targets.
Shortly after Posh manager Darren Ferguson alluded to the fact that things had quickened, they write that Harrison Burrows, the League One Player of the Season, appears to have been decided by Sheffield United.
Preston North End, who announced their withdrawal from the competition last week, Sheffield United, Birmingham, and an unidentified fourth club were the other three teams vying for Burrows.
For the most part of the process, the Blades were seen as the front-runners; nevertheless, issues with their projected acquisition put an end to the agreement. The player had accepted personal terms and cleared a physical examination some weeks prior, but because of the off-field problems, rival teams tried to overtake the Championship side.
The report states that the agreement, which will cost about £3 million, should be finalized within the next few days.
Is Birmingham City suffering from this?
Burrows would have been a fantastic addition to the Blues team, but this move always seemed more opportunistic than anticipated. Like Alfie May, another team was on the verge of landing a quality League One player and they made an attempt to steal a contract.
But unlike Huddersfield Town, Sheffield United can provide an instant promotion to the Championship, something Birmingham cannot, and they have been working on a deal for some time. Since they have already added Christoph Klarer to the center back position, it is likely that they will look for other defensive reinforcements during this transfer window.
On August 10, they play Reading in their first League One match. Despite their early success, it is obvious that they still have work to do as the team can field a team that most League One teams would be jealous of. There’s a reason they are the league favorites.
