Oxford signs Currie, a former Wimbledon defender…
Jack Currie, who played for Wimbledon, has signed a long-term contract with Oxford United for an unknown sum.
As AFC Wimbledon finished 10th in League Two last season, the left-back made 45 appearances, scoring one goal and providing one assist.
“Jack brings a wealth of league football experience and fits right in with our style of play,” external head coach Des Buckingham stated.
“We believe he can make a positive impact on our current group and also has the type of character that will help us continue to drive and develop the culture and environment within our team.”
Ed Waldron, head of recruitment, called Currie “a very exciting full-back” and mentioned that the team had been keeping an eye on him “for a while”.
After defeating Bolton in the League One play-off final in May, the U’s will play in the English football second tier for the first time in 25 years in the upcoming season.
