It was anticipated that Victor Osimhen would prioritize a move to the Premier League and depart Napoli this summer. Arsenal, Chelsea, and Manchester United—three of England’s potential suitors—have all been eliminated from the running, though, with the revelation that the striker has a €110 million release clause.

Chelsea was especially interested, but because of their financial concerns, they won’t be able to pay the €110 million asking price, and Napoli is unlikely to agree to a cheaper sum. According to Italian publication Corriere dello Sport, Paris Saint-Germain is poised to strike now that the Blues are all but out of the running for Osimhen.

Luis Enrique, the PSG manager, is still not convinced by his existing center forwards, Randal Kolo Muani and Goncalo Ramos, and he is looking to bring in a new player that will enable him to keep pushing the Ligue 1 team toward an elusive Champions League championship. With funding from Qatar, the French side will be able to pay Osimhen and present him with a handsome salary package.

The Nigerian international’s decision to leave the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium this summer in search of a Parisian adventure or to keep waiting for Premier League interest to realize his dream of playing in England remains to be seen. However, a different agreement between Chelsea and Napoli is still very much in the works.

Antonio Conte is eager to work with Romelu Lukaku again at Napoli after the two achieved success at Inter Milan a few years ago. For a reported amount of about €45 million, the former Chelsea coach will be able to sign the former Chelsea striker this summer. However, it appears that Napoli originally intended to let Osimhen go in order to raise money and make room on their roster.

While PSG’s interest in Osimhen is still sporadic, if and when they make a move for the 25-year-old, a deal might close in a few days, which would allow Lukaku to leave Chelsea, which would provide them with much-needed financial support.
